Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of the differences between grammatical and natural gender of the names of main female protagonists in the tales of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood. It shows the examples of usage of different gender categories in the text telling about the protagonists. It is possible to mix the gender identity of the protagonists in the texts. It stresses the most logical solution – using the natural gender which, in this situations, should be more important than the grammatical one.
