Summary/Abstract: The author attempts to point out the mechanisms in the process of learning – teaching characteristic for the theory of psychoanalysis, which have been expressed in this context by Anna Freud. The integral element of the paper is the biography of the pioneer of the children’s psychoanalysis, especially the innovative methods of education applied by her in the independently created school (the Matchbox School). The main part of the presented content is the assumption that the attitudes of the pedagogue towards the students are affected by one’s own educational experiences from the childhood – both those rooted in the material reality, as well as in the psychological. The conclusion consists of an abridged version of a case study illustrating the process of identification and its consequences for the teacher – student relationship.
