Summary/Abstract: Philippe Jaccottet advocates uncertainty on many occasions, thus following in the footsteps of the sceptic minds who promote movement. However, he also knows the torments that lie with doubt – as is underlined with the metaphor of the abyss. As a result, the concept of immobility fluctuates. Is it vain apraxia, a desired anchoring, or the denial of movement that enables it, paradoxically, to exist? These variations in his work will be analyzed through the imagery of the stone.
