Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the phenomena related to the fourth industrial revolution in thecontext of changes in the area of education. The analysis refers both to directions in whicheducation goes or should go regarding institutions, personnel, and teaching content. It refersalso to the new conditions of a labor market and social consequences of the revolution 4.0. Itis indicated that one of such after-effects might be social exclusion and social self-exclusionthat in the perspective of a few years may rise to the size of a pandemic. Properly remodelededucation can function as a protective factor in regard to these phenomena. Among theelements contributing to this function are lifelong learning, adaptation of teaching contents,implementation of new technologies, educational institutions’ restructuration, as well as theexpanded scientific discussion supporting the change of social awareness about the role andfunction of education in building the knowledge-society in the nearest future.
