Summary/Abstract: From the Parisian terrorist attack in 2015 and childhood recollections of Chernobyl to the COVID-19 pandemium and the war in Syria the author evokes fragments of discourses and images of experienced and unexperienced wars and catastrophes in order decolonise their image and impact upon us. In doing so he recounts the relation between living through war and catastrophe, and their (un)seeing. Is the manner in which we experience the world not permanently deformed by wartime frameworks?
