Summary/Abstract: The expression that defines Neo-Eurasianism in a relative way is partially confronted with the Russian foreign policy of Putin’s era. Neo-Eurasianists also link the failure of the Boris Yeltsin era to the effort of not being Eurasian. For Neo-Eurasian, Central Asia indispensable both energy and economic purposes and historical heritage for Russia. In this context Putin’s Near Abroad doctrine is also in full compliance with Neo-Eurasian policies. Nevertheless, for Putin it is totally Neo-Eurasian, which is a reductionist approach. However, Neo-Eurasianist approach is not the only approach to shaping the Russian foreign policy of the Putin, but it is at the forefront of the main determinative approaches.
