The Painting as a witness to history (the experience of understanding).

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the historical and cultural review of the collection of historical paintings of the XIX century from the Gatchina Palace Museum. The author comes to the conclusion about the didactic role of philosophical understanding of these paintings, which finds its application in projects such as «The exhibition of the one showpiece» and lectures at the exposition.
