Summary/Abstract: The study begins with a brief introduction on the topic of diplomatic gifts in the recent historiography, emphasizing the new and those with higher contribution publications on the subject. The Venetian-Ottoman relations (respectively in the period from the end of the 14th century to 1453 and then to the middle of the 16th century) are analyzed in relation to the general picture of the diplomacy in the Mediterranean and the changes in the diplomatic practices of Byzantium itself. The processes of borrowing models from Byzantium by Venice and by the court of the sultan are also presented. Several specific examples of the mutual exchange of gifts between Venice and the sultans in Istanbul in the 16th century have also been selected.
