Summary/Abstract: The presented paper deals with a multilingual approach within the didactics of foreign language teaching. In addition to calculating the competencies that a multilingual user of a language – a modern European – should have at its disposal – the author suggests the foundations on which plurilingual and pluricultural didactics are based, its current trends and direction. The article deals specifically with the visual reception of the text, as one of the classic partial competencies of a multilingual individual. At the end of the presented text, the author offers principles for creating tasks and exercises in teaching a second and further foreign language, introduces principles for creating different learning profiles for specific groups of teachers and indicates the required competencies of teachers in the education of multilingual students.
