Summary/Abstract: When it comes to relations between sports, politics and propaganda, Olympic Games are important examples. Especially between the two world wars during the rise of totalitarian regimes this relation became more intensified and propaganda superseded diplomacy. In this atmosphere starting from sports and arts, most of the social pursuits turned into mere tools in the hands of the totalitarian powers. In this study, taking 1936 Olympic Games as a sample case we discussed the relation between sports and politics in Nazi Germany. We tried to evaluate this relation with a special emphasize on the propaganda element and its repercussions Turkey. For this reason, in this study, we will discuss the theoretical relationship between Politics and Propaganda prior to Sports. In the following sections, we will discuss how the National Socialists in Germany took power, how this relationship has changed over time, and how the dominant ideology to serve the Olympic games has changed. At the same time, we include discussions on how these developments affected Turkey. The purpose of this discussion is to provide Turkey’s perspective on these matters. This will also enable us understand how Turkey’s domestic and foreign political views have evolved over time with the effect of western World.
