People and money: currency reform of 1947 and activity of the paper mill Goznak in Leningrad

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the activity of the paper mill Goznak in Leningrad during the preparation and implementation of the currency reform of 1947. The author emphasizes the insufficiently explored problem of the manufacturing of special paper for money. This article is based on archive sources, and analyzes the process of paper manufacturing, marks numerous technical difficulties which Soviet specialists faced during the realization of the governmental task.
