Summary/Abstract: In the article, the discussion deals with differences of Stalin and M. M. Litvinov in 1939 after signing the treaty with Germany. Litvinov spoke of Hitlers threat in this period and did not agree with the «new foreign policy», which caused Stalins concern. Reluctance to be silent in this situation was the reason for the resignation of Litvinov.
