Summary/Abstract: The Deputy's oath is a precondition for taking up his or her mandate. The legal provisions also clearly define the legal consequences of refusing to take the oath or failing to take it. The question of Deputies' liability for breach of that oath is more complex. In addition, constitutional, statutory and regulatory provisions provide for other types of liability of Deputies not connected with taking the oath.
