Summary/Abstract: Slavery has a deep background in history. It is one of the most inferior and bitter experiences of human history. In some decades of history, the slave traders have made great benefits in this way. By the exploration of the America Continent, slavery has caused new pains and inferior issues. The lives of black African people who were burden into the ships without their desires and been sold to the owners of farms turned into significant troubles. While working for their owners, besides not having any rights, the slaves experienced racism due to their skin colour. Many American writers, philosophes, society leaders began to struggle against slavery and racism, which became significant problems for humanity. One of those strugglers was President Lincoln. Even at the cost of civil war, he signed the law of freedom. Many slaves were free and got the right to citizenship, but they faced many problems during the application of the law. Through Jim Crow Law, people were equal, but they had to live separately, and the blacks were not able to practice their citizenship rights. The American writer Ralph Ellison in such a period writes his famous novel INVISIBLE MAN. Ellison names his protagonist as the invisible man. The Invisible man represents not only himself but metaphorically all the black people consistently ignored by the whites. Ellison clearly and boldly puts forward all the problems that the blacks experienced. However, while writing about all of those problems, Ellison followed a different way than other black writers. He was not only expressing the problems but also suggested solutions for them. According to the author, all whites and blacks must accept to live together and embrace each other. Moreover, blacks had to take their natural places in American society, education, training, culture and art skills. Furthermore, they should try to be reputable individuals without losing their identities.
