Summary/Abstract: Drawing on the theory of E. J. Earseth, the article analyzes the author text reader relationship in the context of a specific form of ergodic literature, namely the form of text based video games. Given that playing video games is a form of literacy and that a literary text shaped into a video game is a subject of literary theory, the aim of this paper is to refer to the examples of “Device 6” and “Maginary”, providing insights into video games as a literary medium and the author’s and reader’s experience of text based video games.
