Summary/Abstract: Getting individuals to acquire a natural language as a second language is an initiative that is based on a teaching methodology that can be structured in several stages. In most cases, these methodologies, whether prescribed by educational policies or not, concern languages that have a tradition of writing. Faced with this observation, the teaching of so-called "oral tradition" languages seems to be compromised because these languages are not based on a written history. The operation seems to be still difficult when it comes to teaching languages with an oral tradition which are threatened with extinction because of their circumstantial use and the reduced number of their speakers. And yet education can be a powerful means to revitalize these endangered languages. Faced with this challenge, we want to use the experience of the revitalization of betiné (endangered language of Côte d’Ivoire) to propose a methodological approach for the teaching of endangered languages with oral tradition.
