Summary/Abstract: This article claims that contradictions are inherent in social existence while highlighting that they can be articulated in numerous ways. Exploring our contemporary culture, it is argued that neoliberalism thrives by utilising our contradictory devotion to exploit ourselves. It is fully acknowledged that we, as neoliberal subjects, are constituted by discourse and our critique of neoliberalism is inevitably articulated within the framework of a hegemonic discourse. The article also shows that critical thought cannot but take on board and utilise its contradictions in order to develop its full capacity.
