Summary/Abstract: The artistic tandem of Tadeusz Nalepa/Bogdan Loebl has left a strong mark on the face of Polish song, as their songs have entered the canon of Polish popular music. A special effect of their artistic creation seems to be the blues, in which these two great individualists found a common language of artistic communication. They have created in this genre extremely original and valuable songs, a recognizable idiom, which is difficult to imitate. It is impossible to analyze the musical matter and achievements of “ Breakout” stripped of Loebel’s phrase, and vice versa. One may be tempted to offer important theses: Loebl and Nalepa have separated blues from rock 'n' roll and bigbeat infantile aesthetics; they have moved the genre into the areas of avant-garde creativity, which parallels the achievements of Western performers. Finally, they have defined its stylistic character and established a “threshold” of quality, which continues to be high.
