Summary/Abstract: Pia Brînzeu gives an account of the life and activity of the Banat poet Nikolaus Berwanger, emphasising the tragism of the latter's destiny and analzsing the effects suffering had on the literary productions that gave the poet a part of the confort he needed. Professor Brînzeu's article is followed by a set of poems selected from Berwanger's creation and highly illustrative as to the above considerations.
