Summary/Abstract: Long before the Covid-19 pandemic, digitalization was an increasingly serious challenge for contemporary society. From the beginning, it stirred reactions, being viewed with confidence and hope, as a chance to develop and recover existing gaps between areas of the contemporary world, but also with distrust and fear, in the face of technologies that start to have more control. For the Republic of Moldova, digitalization has been a real challenge since 2010, as it has made remarkable progress in overcoming countries in the region. The present article proposes as an objective, through comparative analysis, the observation of the role that digitalization has or could play in the Transnistrian settlement process. Will digitization be a solution? Or it will generate an obstacle, considering its transformation into critical infrastructure?
