Summary/Abstract: A prolific composer, Alfred Mendelsohn devoted himself with professional devotion to the works intended for the violin, the significant number of works composed for this instrument, the value of these opposites as well as the requirement of the semiography used, prove this. Ever since his studies in Vienna, the composer has shown a great attraction to early music, to the world of medieval fashions. Thus, in 1962 he composed the cycle of 12 Preludes in classical style for solo violin. Although they are called preludes, some parts have dance subtitles that made up a suite: alla siciliana alla sarabanda, and one has a toccata bill.
