Summary/Abstract: The communication of scientific subjects is very important in today’s world, because it can impact the decisions taken everyday by all of us. The article provides a short overview of the science communication over time, with an emphasis on the ascension and decline of the `deficit model` and its replacement by professor of law and psychology at Yale Law School Dan Kahan’s ‘social cognition model’. This model postulates that people perceive the risks around them based on the social norms of the group they belong to more than by rationally evaluating the infromation accessible to them.
