Summary/Abstract: The present paper deals with the catenary versions of the Church Slavonic book of Ecclesiastes. The surviving Cyrillic manuscripts contain excerpts of commentated version (1 MS of the 16 c.), commentated interpolation (8 MSS 15-16 c.) and plain version (32 MSS 15–17 c.). The problem of the relationship between the three versions is discussed. Although several commentaries on Ecclesiastes are known in Byzantine tradition, none of these can be identified exactly with the Church Slavonic catena. In parts it is based on the commentary of Olympiodorus the Deacon. The question whether the Church Slavonic catena was once complete or survived only in fragments is considered as well as when the translations of commentaries were made.
