Summary/Abstract: In this paper we will attempt to determine the link between the question of identity, both cultural and national, with the drama at the end of the 19th and beginning of 20th century as one fluid form of cultural and literary memory. Remembrance as a cultural phenomenon carries a whole array of historical, political, cultural, social information which when poured into literature give a special artistic form. We don't only find out about the past through archive sources, but through personal and collective memories of people which in our case are turned into dramatic texts written in the name of and about the Macedonian revolution. The drama created in one of the most turbulent periods of Macedonian history serve as a relevant addition to the research of the development of national conception and cultural identity of Macedonian people. Cultural memory, whose one component is literary memory, always guides the interaction between the past and actuality in the specific political and sociocultural environments, in this case the Macedonian. Macedonian drama, especially the one from its first phase, represents an unbreakable part of the cultural memory of Macedonian people and is a foundation of the entire literary and cultural development of the nation. That is why, these dramatic works will be the basis to determine the link between drama, more precisely national drama and the development and affirmation of national and cultural identity.
