Summary/Abstract: The author presents the book of Romanian editor and curator, Cristina Modreanu entitled The Gladiator Butterfly. The book published by Curtea Veche Press in 2016 has the following subtitle: Political, queer & feminist theatre on Romanian stages, and the book illustrations are signed by Dan Perjovschi. Modreanu explains the „butterfly of the gladiator” metaphor as following: the ephemerality of theatre is coupled with the brutal survival fight, the David of strangeness, of the otherness and of progressivity fights with the paternal, conservative and destructive Goliath.
