Summary/Abstract: Mandala; Crucifixus; audiogram; modernity; symphonismIn the vast and complex landscape of the modern Romanian musical culture, the personality of maestro Aurel Stroe is remarkable firstly because of his value and originality, qualities which do not facilitate the access to the ultimate meanings of his music. With his own system of thought (articulated based on the confluence of many aspects associated with different cultures, ages and epochs), with very little analysis in the public space by himself or by other musicologists, as he is an almost hermetic composer, Aurel Stroe’s work has to be attentively analysed, with the minuteness of a person capable of great effort in this area. The composition that we intend to analyse from a pedagogical point of view with the help of an audiogram is Mandala avec une polyphonie d’Antonio Lotti pour orchestre avec une petite formation chorale, composed in 1996-1997 by Aurel Stroe.
