Conservation Strategies for Tangible Assets in Cultural HeritageTourism: The Example of Eskişehir Yazilikaya Monument

Summary/Abstract: Anatolia has hosted many ancient civilizations in the past and is located where tangible cultural heritages from different civilizations are abundant and spread over a wide area. Therefore, the preservation of cultural heritage with intangible and tangible features and their transfer to future generations is an indicator of the development of our country in tourism and culture. Therefore,developing strategies for protecting tangible elements of cultural heritage explains the primary purpose of this study. For this purpose, the data obtained from the interviews with 16 participants about the problems of tangible cultural heritage assets and the solution proposals of these problems were subjected to content analysis and discussed in two main topics as “problems” and“suggestions”. The findings are primarily in the direction of improving the education system,and that culture and heritage courses should be reduced to the primary school level, and deterrent punishments should be given against the problem of vandalism.
