Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes an unknown copy of the Short vita of St. Erasmus of Ohrid (Formia). It is found in a little-studied South Slavic manuscript, containing the Verse Prologue for the whole year, which is the work of Ioan Miloshev. The manuscript dates from the beginning of the 16th century and it is preserved in the library of the Zographu Monastery as Ms. № 47 (Zogr47). The text of the life of St. Erasmus was added to the manuscript outside the composition of the Verse Prologue according to its Tarnovo edition. It has been suggested that the translation from Greek was made by Ioan Miloshev’s brother – Nikola, according to the Moscopole edition of the Vita, by including it in the second part of the manuscript. This additional part in Zogr47 is attributed to him. The study also provides some facts about the preaching activities and the suffering of St. Erasmus, the other two shorter Greek vitae, and his Short vita compiled in Russia. In the appendix are given texts of the Short vita according to the copy from Zogr47 and the oldest Russian transcript in the so-called Spaso-Prilutsky prologue from the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century – State Archives of St. Petersburg AI /264 (2).
