Summary/Abstract: The growing demand of wood, both on the local market as well as the international one, led to concentrated forest exploitation, log rafting on the Bistrița river increasing during the interwar period. In the expedition scaffolding on the Neagra-Broștenilor, large quantities of wood would be tied, log rafting being possible through the expensive development of the river bed and the arrangement of a flight of locks. Despite the high taxes for rafting, the wood of the Neagra Broștenilor basin forests being highly qualitative, was not lacking its share of buyers. The volume of wood that was traded on the Neagra and Negrișoara being limited only by the rafting capacity of the two rivers.
