Summary/Abstract: The study examines the history and the current state of the prepositional expression ‘на сто процента’ (100%) in Bulgarian speech practice. The competition between the prepositional and the prepositionless expression is traced in search of a functional distinction between the two. The rich material from the Bulgarian National Corpus, online sources and handwritten notes, substantiates the statement about the colloquial nature of the proposed expression. A trend towards a more active use of the prepositional expression is observed in media language in the process of speech colloquialization.
