Summary/Abstract: Śmierć cadyka is the Polish translation of a segment of the Days of Nathan, the autobiography of Nathan Sternhartz, a disciple and scribe of tzaddik Nachman of Breslov (Bracław, Bratslav). This excerpt contains segments 52 through 66, which describe the last days of the life, the agony and death of the tzaddik in Uman in 1810 and its impact on his Hasidim. Sternhartz’s recollections also help to understand the role that the author assigned to himself in the Breslov community following tzaddik Nachman’s death. The Polish translation is based on the original edition of Sternhartz’s autobiography and the available manuscripts of the work, with references added.
