Summary/Abstract: The article describes the monograph by Alessandra Zurolo Deutsche medizinische Lehrtexte. Eine diachronische Perspektive published by Verlag Frank & Timme in 2020. In her study, the author deals with German medical teaching texts from different eras and discusses their characteristic features on different levels, on the one hand to point out certain patterns of their design and on the other hand to follow their historical development. By showing the functional similarities of the researched texts, the author succeeds in presenting medical teaching texts as a class of text types. The diachronic perspective of the study also makes it possible to answer the question of what influence the analyzed textbooks have on modern textbooks. The aim of the article presented here is to discuss the results of Zurolo’s analysis.
