Summary/Abstract: This article represents the theme of sociocultural aspects of the somatic symbol heart in Romano-Germanic ethnolinguistics, reveals the importance of cognitivist-pragmatic perspective in phraseological text, distinguishes the diversity and similarity of cultural codes and social imagery through semantic-functional features of the somatic symbol in French, Italian, Romanian and English phraseological units. The contrastive study reflects semantic-functional specificity of the somatic symbol heart in Romance and Germanic idioms related to: 1. situational segment of the idiomatic symbol that refers to the deictic information of the constitutive element; 2. functional aspect of the somatic symbol which represents its role in the situational framework; 3. componential segment of the somatic symbol heart based on the decomposition of meanings; 4. cultural dimension of the phraseological somatic symbol that refers to its ethnolinguistic conceptualization in order to individualize the sociocultural imagery; 5. intercultural frame of the phraseological somatic symbol that reflects its contrastive-comparative evidences that appear as a result of externalization of cultural meanings and symbolic functions (French, English, Italian and Romanian); 6. cognitivist-pragmatic subdivision of the somatic symbol heart that highlights psycholinguistic influences of the symbolic expression in order to establish the contact and interest of the receiver through constitutive elements; 7. intensity framework of the somatic symbol that reveals its pragmatic-semantic evidences in various cultural and intercultural communicative situations.
