Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a linguistic investigation into the Slavonic translation of the Euchologion of the Great Church in two vellum Russian manuscripts from the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries deposited in the State Historical Museum, the Synode Collection N 675 and N 900. Norms of this translation are based on the metropolitan Cyprian’s norms of translations of liturgical texts. The Slavonic version of the Euchologion of the Great Church was made by scribes who had worked not under Cyprian, but under the next metropolitan – Photius, who promoted the dynastic marriage between the Russian princess and the heir of the Byzantine throne. In the Euchologion there are some linguistic peculiarities testifying the Russian provenance of the translation. It is quite evident that there existed a certain circle of educated persons at the court of the metropolitan which included also Russians who worked at liturgical translations after Cyprian but according the norms set in his period.
