Summary/Abstract: The article concerns itself with determining which particular liturgy was translated by Sts. Cyrill and Methodius. By taking a closer look at the manuscript tradition of the liturgies of John Chrysostom and Basil the Great, as well as the Slavonic translation of liturgical commentaries, one can suggest the following. The first Byzantine liturgies were translated by the students of Cyril and Methodius in Bulgaria, not by the Apostles of the Slavs themselves during the mission to Moravia. It is likely that Methodius translated the Latin mass and tried to introduce its Slavonic translation in Moravia. This led to the conflict between the Byzantine missionaries and the Germanic clergy.
