Summary/Abstract: The article discusses several troparia from the oldest service dedicated to St. Cyril the Philosopher. Traditionally it was believed that the service is one of the works originally compiled in Slavonic. The arguments advanced by A. D. Voronov in opposition to that view were not taken into consideration. However, after the exact Greek sources of two theotokia were discovered it became clear that the service is not entirely original though the familiar practice of transferring theotokia from one canon into another canon does not as yet give grounds to revise completely the traditional view. The author discovered several troparia in the Greek service to St. Paul the Confessor (6th Nov.) which obviously were the source of a rather faithful paraphrase in the Slavonic canon. The comparison with the Greek text enables scholars to elucidate a number of passages, to restore the metric structure of the verses, and toreconstruct the original text of these troparia.
