Summary/Abstract: The modern state has existed in International Relations for over three hundred years. In the present context, the survival of the State addresses two main dimensions: the national dimension specific to the modern national state, and the institutional dimension, which includes, inter alia, issues of governance, economics and security. The authors perform in this paper a careful analysis of the relationship between these three components of the institutional dimension of the modern state’s existence, focusing on the current economic and financial crisis that transcends real or symbolic borders of the States and of the international community.
