Summary/Abstract: BUDAPEST, Hungary--Former Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called on his countrymen to “Buy Hungarian” to save jobs, but some critics are questioning his motives in the run-up to a nationwide referendum on EU membership. Orban just a few weeks prior lashed out at the EU and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenther Verheugen, saying that "Hungary is an independent state and it would be good if Mr. Verheugen and the EU took note of that.”
