Summary/Abstract: After the union of Transylvania with Romania in 1918, the bad condition of roads made a modernisation necessary. A swedish company, Johnsonkoncern, began with the construction of a road of 750 km from Bucharest via Brasov, Sibiu, Sebes, Turda and Cluj to Oradea. The construction began in 1931 and lasted until 1938. The article is a contribution to the yet neglected aspect of the history of roads in Romania.
