Summary/Abstract: This paper analysis the role of a local football tournament and the football museum established in a village near Sofia as specific time and place of memory. The author’s interest is provoked by the fact that football occupies a significant part of the living world of the bearers of culture; it touches them emotionally and their experience related to it is extremely important for themselves. Football gives meaning to their workdays and holidays and at the same time it becomes some kind of regulator of neighbourly and intervillage relations. It also contributes to the adaptation of the young people in the modern society. The football occupations of the local people influence seriously their social life. By means of football they provide themselves with elements for local identity construction, for increase of communal confidence and for differentiation from the others.
