Summary/Abstract: After analysing archival documents from the US Department of State, the author reconstructs the fate of the Jewish population in the Polish territories occupied by Nazi Germany. The sources quoted, confronted with the literature on the subject, made it possible to reconstruct the German policy towards Jews, including the course of the Holocaust in its most important and crucial moments. The analysis of the documents reveals the extent of the American government’s knowledge of the persecution of the Jewish population in Poland under German occupation.
