The objective of this study is to examine mobile applications of local five-star hotels in Turkey, to determine the technical specifications of these applications, so as to compare the characteristics of mobile applications with international criteria. Content analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods was used in this paper. In the study, data was obtained from a number of android devices and android emulators, and the obtained data was analyzed with the help of office programs. In this study of 30 five-star hotels, it was determined that duplicate applications were designed as a result of the development of a certain number of companies. It has been observed that many hotels do not have mobile applications or that their application features have deficiencies according to international criteria.

The occurrence of a tourism activity depends on the continuity of tourist attractions. The continuity of these attractions is greatly influenced by the sustainable practices of the individuals participating in tourism. In this research, the everyday sustainability practices of the backpackers who participated in longer-term travels compared to other types of tourists were investigated. A total of 244 Turkish backpackers had been reached through snowball sampling. Data were collected in September-October 2018 via a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by independent samples t test and ANOVA. It was determined that the most frequently used sustainability practices were practices pertaining to economic sustainability. Additionally, it was found that sustainability practices were significantly different based on the travelers' travel period, daily working status, daily average spending amount and sponsor supports.

The purpose of this research; identifying the status of ecotourism activities in the promotional brochures of the provinces. For the purpose of the study, the official websites of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism have been reviewed and Turkish promotional brochures of the provinces have been reached. The brochure of 69 provinces was reached and 12 provinces could not be reached. The analyzes were performed on a total of 69 promotional brochures between 18.03.2019-26.03.2019. According to the data obtained; 31 provinces provide ecotourism in their brochures. Ecotourism activity, which is the most frequently mentioned in the brochures; is water tourism. The least involved ecotourism activity is; balloon tourism. Among the specific ecotourism types, the most used activity in the promotion was snowboarding. It was determined that most of the provinces did not include any ecotourism activity in the promotional brochures except the ecotourism activities which were taken as basis in this study. Giresun is the province that has the most ecotourism activity.

Chronism in the literature as co-favored nepotism has become a situation encountered in many areas today. In this research, the kitchen departments of the hospitality companies within the tourism sector are discussed in terms of chronology. In this context, the study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the chronism perception of the employees of the kitchen department and the variables of job satisfaction and intention to leave. The research universe consists of kitchen departments in Muğla accommodation establishments. The sample is Marmaris accommodation businesses kitchen departments. The hypotheses were tested by correlation and regression analysis and the results were obtained. As a result of the study, it was found that each dimension of chronism (process chronism, chronism in promotion, chronism in the recruitment process, wage chronism, chronism in performance evaluation) has a meaningful relationship with the intention to leave the job, and it has a negative and significant relationship with the job satisfaction dimension.

This study aims to depict the metaphorical perceptions of students in tourism vocational high schools. Accordingly, we benefited from the qualitative method and employed descriptive research model. The data were collected via an open-ended questionnaire consisted of two questions. The participants of the study are high school students 3rd and 4th grade in Turkey. The questionnaire was distributed to students through 2017- 2018 fall semester and the total sample was 292. The students generated 67 metaphors to Express training experience in total. The metaphors were classified in three themes. These are, namely, positive, negative, and mixed perceptions (perceptions work both ways). The study identified that the majority of the students perceive the training experience with negative qualities. The prominent metaphors were “construction work” and “slavery”.

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of local food tastes, satisfaction and satisfaction on the post-purchase behaviors of the local tourists visiting Cunda Island. Cunda Island restaurants were pre-tested and a local food scale was created. A survey on local food, customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions and descriptive characteristics of participants was conducted on 406 domestic tourists and expected effects were analyzed by structural equation model. As a result of analyzes, it has been determined that the taste of local plants and seafood, which are the sub-dimensions of the regional food scale, have an effect on customer satisfaction in customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions.

Travel agencies, in order to provide more quality and valuable services to their customers, it adapting its products with the personal wishes and needs of its customers. The pre-requisite for production compatible with customers is that the customers is take on the role as co-creators of in production. Customers have a co-creative role by contributing intellectual, physical and behavioral contributions to the different stages of the production process of travel agencies. The participation of the customers in the production phases of the travel agencies enables the tour packages to be flexible and customized in line with the customer preferences, demands and needs. Customized production as a result of increasing interaction between business and customer which is brings about a change in the production structure of travel agencies. This change prepares the transition process from mass and mass individualized production, which is dominant in production, to customized production in agencies. In this study, the role of customers co-creative strategy in customizing touristic products is discussed. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted. The findings show that the customization of services through the participation of customers in production, affects the service outputs that are presented and perceived, and it is an important determinant in the competitiveness and continuousness of the business. Considering the national literature, it is seen that the subject of production in agencies is examined through mass, alternative and special interest tours, and there is no research which can provide theoretical or practical guidance for the travel agencies regarding customized production. The current research is important for closing this remarkable gap and for creating a framework for customized production.

The aim of the study is to determine the size of the relations between the tourism stakeholders of Burdur and Isparta provinces, which are two important cities of the Region of Lakes, in the context of effective governance. Qualitative research method was used for the purpose of the study. Data were collected through semi-structured interview form, participant observation, written and visual documents related to the particular region and analyzed through inductive content analysis. Findings of the study show that though the region has a lot of tourism advantages, these advantages are not utilized adequately. Besides, it is argued that the region is unable to provide effective destination governance due to the deficiencies on the sub and super structure of tourism, promotion and marketing, public opinion, investment and projects, relationship of the stakeholders. Therefore, it has been found that interstakeholder relations need to be increased in terms of planning, leadership, coordination, cooperation, communication, participation in decisions, information sharing and commitment to ensure effective destination governance in the region and development of local tourism.

Tourism guidance students need to fulfill the requirements of lifelong learning and have this motivation in order to provide their personal and professional development and to be a good guide. The aim of this study is to determine the lifelong learning tendencies of the students who have received tourism guidance education. The sample of the study consisted of 323 students studying at Balıkesir University, Tourism Faculty, Department of Tourism Guidance. The data obtained by the survey method were evaluated by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, analysis of arithmetic mean and standard deviation values, independent group t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). As a result of the research, it was determined that the lifelong learning tendencies of the students receiving tourism guidance education were high and there were also differences between the students' demographic characteristics and lifelong learning tendencies.

In accordance with the Regulation on Tourist Guidance, Article 14, it is compulsory to attend to the application trips for the guides who are or will graduate from the tourism guidance departments of the universities and for the guides who want to add a new region to their licenses, under the observation and supervision of the Ministry. This training trip is important in terms of recognizing historical and touristic areas for guide candidates and having information about them. In this context, planning and management stages of these trips are important. In this study, it is aimed to discover the expectations of the tourist guide candidates on the practice trip before they became a guide, what kind of experiences they get from this trip and how they evaluate these experiences. In this context, qualitative research approach was preferred in this research. The research was carried out in a phenomenological pattern, as the experiences of guide candidates about the phenomenon of the training trip will be described. In order to obtain data within the scope of the exploratory / interpretative paradigm since the research design required interviewing, in-depth interview method was conducted with 15 guide candidates participating in the application trip in 2019. The results of the descriptive analysis of the data obtained from the interviews with the participants were as follows; the expectations of the participants, the positive and negative ideas for the tour and the suggestions for changes to be made for the development of the future tours are gathered under four titles: price, accommodation, tour program, information, tour route, student lectures, tour participants and tour organization. The problems were determined by the researchers and the suggestions from the participants about the training trip planning and general guidance training were discussed by the researchers.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the cognitive perception of students about the concept of İznik by means of metaphors. The sample group of the study consisted of 185 students studying at the Iznik Vocational School of Bursa Uludağ University. Students were asked to fill in the forms that include such questions as “For me İznik is as ….. Because …..”. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the students formed 112 different metaphors related to İznik. These metaphors are divided into 8 different categories: 7 positive and 1 negative according to common characteristics. According to the findings of the study; The most metaphors produced were history (positive metaphor) and village (negative metaphor).

In recent years, the effect of globalization has begun to be seen in consumer’s coffee consumption habits. As the instant coffee consumption rate increases day by day consumption of coffee such as filter coffee, americano, cappucino, espresso, mocha, cafe latte and macchiato has become widespread as well as traditional Turkish coffee consumption in coffee shop chain businesses. The purpose of this research is to determine the changing coffee consumption habits of consumers and the competitiveness of Turkish coffee with other coffee varieties. Within the research, the place and the importance of Turkish coffee among consumers' coffee consumption quantities, coffee consumption places and coffee preferences are investigated. The main mass of the study is the individuals who consume coffee in Turkey. For the sample of the study, easy sampling method was used and data were obtained by questionnaire technique. An online questionnaire was prepared in order to determine the coffee consumption habits of potential consumers and it was filled with participants through social media during June 2017- December 2018. The main reason of this research is to determine Turkish Coffee’s, which is taken on the list of the intangible cultural heritage of Turkey in the year of 2013, consumption frequency, consumption reasons and its competition situation with other coffee types. As a result of the study, it was determined that the participants used coffee regularly and the most preferred type of coffee was Turkish coffee. It has been concluded that the frequencies of visiting coffee cafes are usually a few times a month, and that the coffee cafes are preferred mostly from local chains (Kahve Dünyası, Bayram Efendi Osmanlı Kahvecisi, Gönül Kahvesi).

Tourism prepares the environment for cross-cultural interaction processes. This situation made it necessary to examine the attitudes of different nationalities towards each other. In the interaction process of the tourists, because they develop an attitude by ignoring the cultural differences, a threat perceive happens for both sides. The perceived threats which contains integrated threat theory is composed of four threats such as real threats, symbolic threats, wrong judices, cross-group anxiety. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the prejudice of the tourists coming from the Arab countries to the Eastern Black Sea Region within the framework of “Integrated Threat Theory”. In accordance with this purpose; a survey was conducted on 410 Arab tourists visiting the Eastern Black Sea Region in April-June 2019. As a result of the research; it was determined that the majority of Arab tourists did not hesitate to communicate with the Turks and that the Turks did not have similar attitudes. Moreover; it was concluded that the integrated threats perceived by Arab tourists during their visit to the Eastern Black Sea Region caused prejudice against the Turks. Consequently, for Arab tourists; it was found that there is a significant, positive and moderate relationship between the perception of real threats, symbolic threats, wrong judices, cross-group anxiety, integrated threats and their prejudice against Turks

The aim of this study is to explain the monthly participation frequencies and spending levels of university students in commercial recreation activities. In addition, it determines whether there is any difference between the department and the monthly participation frequency. The population of the study consists of students studying at Bingöl University. A questionnaire was completed for 641 students. The results of the research were obtained by using Anova and Manova analyzes in SPSS statistical program. The commercial recreational recreation where students participate most; café, games room and coffeehouse (X=4,54), reading books (X=3,81) and going to cinema/theater (X=3,36). The monthly expenditure level of students in recreational activities was the same with the results of the participation frequency. The Faculty of Theology, which has a minimum monthly attendance to the café, game room and coffeehouse activity, has been in attendance. The book reading activity was the monthly least attended by the Physical Education and Sports High School. The most participating department in cinema/theater activity was the students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of authenticity perceptions of visitors, who are visiting the Hamamonu region through culture tours after it was opened to visit following the restoration works started in 2006, on their perceived value, satisfaction and behavioral intent levels. The research data were collected from a total of 421 participants using the convenience sampling method. The hypotheses in the research model were analyzed using statistical package software. It was concluded that the research data have high level of reliability and validity. The data were examined and analyzed by means of the percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and regression analyses. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis applied in the research, it was confirmed that there is a total of 6 dimensions, namely objective authenticity perception, existential authenticity perception, monetary perceived value, general perceived value, satisfaction and behavioral intention. The research findings suggest that the objective authenticity perception and existential authenticity perception have positive effect on perceived value, satisfaction and behavioural intent dimensions.

The aim of the study is to determine the work life balance levels of restaurant employees and to detect whether the job satisfaction and intention to quit job differ or not according to the work life balance levels. For this purpose, between January and March 2019 questionnaires were applied to the employees by face to face at the restaurants which are in the city center of Mersin. Analysis was carried out on 270 valid questionnaires. As a result of the clustering analysis, the sample of 270 restaurant employees was divided into two groups: 151 people with low level of work life balance and 119 people with high level of work life balance. According to this result, it is possible to say that the work life balance of the majority of the restaurant employees is low. It was determined that level of work life balance showed significant differences according to gender, working hours, weekly off and working at religious holidays. In addition, both job satisfaction and turnover intention differ significantly according to the level of work life balance. Restaurant workers with a relatively high level of work life balance have higher level of job satisfaction. On the other hand, workers who have a relatively high level of work life balance have low level of intention to quit job.

In this study, it is aimed to determine the factors that the undergraduate students in recreation management departments consider crucial in career choice and to determine the factors that affect career expectations when they graduate. The other aim of the study is to determine the perspective of academicians working in these departments. Within the scope of the study, 344 participants from the recreation management department of four universities are reached through a questionnaire. Of the 344 questionnaires, 41 are excluded from the analysis and 303 are found to be appropriate for the analysis. Correlation, independent samples t test and Anova tests are used in the analysis of the data. According to the results, a significant relationship is found between the factors that students consider when choosing department and their career expectations.

Although the generations, which are an important area of research in recent years, are studied from various disciplines such as human resources, education and consumer behaviors, they are quite new and not examined enough for tourism literature. However, it is possible to reach significant segments in tourism market based on the different and diversified characteristics of generations because each generation has its own values, priorities and objectives. This study has been carried out on how the international tourist roles of generations differentiate as a proposal for segmentation in tourism. According to the findings of data collected with survey method from 671 participants in total, the Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z tourists who are considered within the scope of the study have different roles in terms of culture oriented dimension, destination oriented dimension, travel services dimension and social contact dimension, and make tourism decisions with various expectations. On the basis of these findings, the tourism market can be segmented according to these differences, depending on the generations as a segmentation criterion.

There is an inverse proportion of the tourism sector with the increasing tourist demand and the number of students receiving tourism education every year. Also, students' insecurity in the tourism sector and the perspective of tourism education have started to be an important problem. For this reason, it is necessary to determine the reasons of the tourism education perceptions of the students studying in universities for tourism education. In this research, it is aimed to determine perceptions about tourism education and tourism sector of undergraduate students in tourism. Students' minds about tourism education will be determined and knowledge levels will be determined. The importance of tourism education in student perceptions will be determined through the word association test. In the study, SPSS 22 program was used to obtain demographic information. The frequency table was made of the response words obtained from student perceptions. According to the responses words, the concept of creating a network map has been demonstrated relationships between students' perceptions of tourism education. In this study, it is put forward the perceptions of the students taking tourism education about their future and the tourism education.

There is an inverse proportion of the tourism sector with the increasing tourist demand and the number of students receiving tourism education every year. Also, students' insecurity in the tourism sector and the perspective of tourism education have started to be an important problem. For this reason, it is necessary to determine the reasons of the tourism education perceptions of the students studying in universities for tourism education. In this research, it is aimed to determine perceptions about tourism education and tourism sector of undergraduate students in tourism. Students' minds about tourism education will be determined and knowledge levels will be determined. The importance of tourism education in student perceptions will be determined through the word association test. In the study, SPSS 22 program was used to obtain demographic information. The frequency table was made of the response words obtained from student perceptions. According to the responses words, the concept of creating a network map has been demonstrated relationships between students' perceptions of tourism education. In this study, it is put forward the perceptions of the students taking tourism education about their future and the tourism education.
