Communication in medicine and healthcare has become a central topic of discussion, and the impact of doctors‘ communication competences on patients‘ clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction has been widely acknowledged. EU educational policies on the verbal communication of future doctors are discussed as a system of educational objectives and tools, which have an influence on language and communication skills training. Enhancing the verbal communication skills of students in medicine has a significant impact on their future professional competencies and careers. On global and European level a number of consensus statements, frameworks and models of the content of communication training for doctors have been developed. The analysis of these consensus statements reveals their major characteristics and to what extent developing verbal skills is considered essential for students’ communication skills. The conclusion of the importance of a consensus on enhancing the verbal skills of doctors, as well as on the content of their verbal communication skills training is made.

The legal process of witness protection is related to the provision of specific procedural and non-procedural safeguards designed to effectively ensure their safety, including in some cases their relatives, before, during and after testimony. Law enforcement officers may also be provided with the safeguards that are available to witnesses. By means of these measures, the respective state fulfills its obligation to protect citizens cooperating with justice from criminal offenses that prevent witness testimony.

The following research is historical and pedagogical and it aims to put an emphasis on the form development and contents line of the extracurricular education in children’s organisations in Bulgaria from 1944 to 1990. The specific kinds of extracurricular education, intellectual, patriotic, international, aesthetic, moral, physical and one related to labour are presented with their specific features typical for the separate stages of the researched period as well as with their correlation. The reconstruction of extracurricular education in children’s organisations, dating back from half a century, is of specific purpose. Contemporary reflexions make it possible to apply certain extracurricular practices from the second half of the 20th century in contemporary structures concerning informal education.

This article is aimed at exploring the issues of support for children and young people with severe disabilities in residential services in Bulgaria. A brief analysis of the types of support is proposed, based on the legal framework and the research data. Results from the experimental interaction are presented, including a Program for group work in the services under review. Given the specifics of the target group, the method used to register results is direct observation. The “initiative in activities” and “initiative in communication” indicators are observed. The main conclusions are: increase in the initiative for the group as a whole is observed; reduction of the communication initiative for the majority of participants.

Employed graduates as part of the workforce in the country is characterized by anumber of characteristics, among which stands out the expected relatively long (comparedwith those of older age groups) time horizon for professional realization of accumulated humancapital with relatively high quality (in compared with individuals with lower education levels)in terms of the continuing decline in the population of youth age groups and promote the opportunities for the application of the principle and free movement of workers. In this context,approaches and measures to retain and motivate employed young people with higher education(including decent pay and attractive employment conditions) are sought and applied, including activities to provide opportunities for competence development in organizations. This article presents the results of the questionnaire toolkit for studying the attitudes of employed younggraduates to a variety of training methods that are provided in organizations as opportunitiesfor improving competencies. The presented questionnaire toolbox is an accessible and effective means by which the employer can periodically examine the attitudes of busy young peoplewith higher education to the various training methods offered in the organization and on thisbasis to make reasoned decisions for improving the system for training and development ofhuman resources as a prerequisite for retaining and motivating young employees with highereducation.

This article’s focuses are the results of studies on internal and external migration’s evolution over the past two and a half decades in the country and on legal framework of migration policies at a national level. This research is aimed at the possibilities to make accurate assessment of trends in migration processes evolution nationally and their impacts on demographic reproduction and country’s development. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of the Demographic Strategy, which is the baseline instrument applicable to migration policy in Bulgaria, are also highlighted and this is the background for mapping out the major areas of focus in terms of how to modify or supplement the 2030 Demographic Strategy in force. Both internal and external migrations are analysed and these have proved to be instrumental for an assessment of their size, direction and significance for the population development in the context of contracted demographic reproduction. The study covers a period of 25 years so as to study the long-standing trends of processes evolution and their developments and this is the platform to be used for an assessment of the realism of the on-going policies. Moreover, post-1990 governments’ migration policies were completely liberalised. This potentiates making a comparison between the period covering the 1990s, when there was no governmental instrument tackling with migration policy’s aims and goals, on the one hand, and the period covering the last 10 years, i.e. when the Demographic Strategy was adopted and enforced. For the purposes of this study, official current statistical information on migration as published by NSI and Eurostat and data from the population censuses conducted over the reference period and population statistics was used.

In recent years there has been a sharp increase in chronic diseases among the population, determining serious medical and social problems. This requires the implementation of rehabilitation measures aimed at preventing the development of pathological processes in order to adequately and early return of patients to their real functions. This article examines the status of rehabilitation activities in our country, focusing on the importance and role of rehabilitation hospitals to maximize the social adequacy of personality. Today’s state of the health system shows a lack of efficiency are violated its internal and external balances, giving priority to the medical preventive, promotive and rehabilitative activities. In the overall restoration process of rehabilitation funds play a major role. Proper selection can accelerate and shorten the recovery period, to help correct labor vocational training or retraining for the full or partial resocialization of the injured individual.

The article focuses on the issue of the emerging tendency of a lack of tolerance that often leads to aggression. The authors conducted a study with students from the National Sports Academy – Sofia (Bulgaria) on attitudes to work in a multicultural environment. The results show that the majority of students have a positive attitude towards working with ethnic minority students. Discussed is the possibility for developing tolerance in children through sport. Sports pedagogic specialists should be able to identify in a timely manner the behavior of pupils during sport and other activities and to reveal the reasons that lead to different behavioral responses.

This article discusses oral history work in palliative care in the UK that offers people with life-limiting illnesses opportunities to audio record their life stories. Oral history is a biographical approach that captures personal experience and perspective, it complements and enhances palliative care by offering opportunities to record memories and have them permanently archived. Oral histories are recorded with no time limit or medical agenda and enable an expression of identity. Research on the impact of oral history in palliative care has identified benefits and challenges. Oral history provides a validating and dignified social activity, enables expression of pre-diagnosis identities that reveal the ‘person behind the patient’. Bereaved family and friends highlight that an important aspect of oral history is the creation of a voice recording as a lasting memory. Ethical and practical challenges include working with people whose ability to participate is affected by illness and the emotional impact of personal reflection. Oral history in palliative care offers insight into living with life-limiting illness and preparing for end of life and has capacity to benefit the wellbeing of participants and family.’
