SOCIALINIAI REALYBĖS ŠOU EKSPERIMENTAI

Author(s): Žygintas Pečiulis / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 72/2007

In the article, genres of TV reality shows are analysed. During them, temporary societies are being constructed. In social television experiments there may be identified palallels to existing and theoretical models of society. Television modifies the Panopticon concept by J. Bentham with help of new technological means. Reality shows become raw material for creating an artificial society which reminds of Leviathan by T. Hobbes. The historical evolution of television reflects a fight between aristocratic and democratic spaces and the threatening danger of democratic despotism, foretold by A. de Tocqueville. Having opened the door for self-expression of ordinary citizens, television becomes an authority that supplies society with amusements.

İslam'ı Algı Sorunu ve Türkiye'deki İslam Algısı

İslam'ı Algı Sorunu ve Türkiye'deki İslam Algısı

Author(s): Songül Alşan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 1/2017

In Turkey and the world there are many triggering factors, actors and results of historical courses. Within these courses, words and assumptions continuously change and these words and assumptions gain meaning and are subject to semantic shift as well. Within these processes, each event can be faced by humanity by demonstrating a front view with their facts, assumption, belief base and perception type. In order to handle these views healthily in each event evaluation, certain pedagogic and methodologic methods were developed. When action is taken by these methods and open perception understanding, real nature and purity of events can be clarified. When the subject is religion, history, tradition and community, arguments for preserving this objectivity becomes more and more sensitive. With the aim of understanding and explaining these sensitive values properly, an evaluation stage for new perception and understanding to be developed was handled.

EQUALITY AND DISCRIMINATION IN EDUCATION

Author(s): Constantin Florin Domunco / Language(s): English Issue: 16/2021

The main purpose of the article is to highlight the implications of equality and discrimination processes in education and to allow the development of the capacity to analyze social reality by integrating pro-equality and anti-discrimination perspectives in teaching methods. In this sense, I reviewed some of the sociological perspectives for understanding the mechanisms of equality and discrimination. I focused on the perverse effects to show how equality can lead to inequality, and I addressed the implications of symbolic violence in the process of reproducing social inequalities. At the end of the article I propose two pro-equality and anti-discrimination solutions: sociological imagination and socio-cognitive conflict.

Reakcja na zagrożenie koronawirusem – analiza publikowanych treści w początkowej fazie epidemii na oficjalnej stronie Konferencji Episkopatu Polski

Author(s): Rafał Jakub Pastwa / Language(s): Polish Issue: 37/2021

The mediatisation of reality has embraced societies and institutions, including religious institutions and religion. This has increased the importance of religious communication, which is part of a broad and complex process of social communication. Its strong position and importance have grown with the development of communication technologies and the popularity of the mass media, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The decrease in the number of believers in churches in Poland in March 2020 made the media the dominant platform for religious communication. The processes of the mediatisation of religion and the mediatisation of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland strengthen the position of the media in the transfer of religious content and in creating the image of a church institution. The emergence of COVID-19 in Poland in 2020 triggered a reaction from numerous institutions, including the media. On the official website of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, numerous administrative and pastoral messages appeared, which constituted a specific instruction for the faithful from both the pastoral and institutional perspectives. They were also of interest to the media and the public. The dominance of administrative and pastoral texts published on the website episkopat.pl in the analysed period is in line with the nature and mission of the Church, which cannot be reduced to either a temporal and institutional perspective or a spiritual and salvific perspective alone. The analysis of the content quality allows us to notice a slight shift of emphasis towards the temporal perspective, while in the analysed messages, institutional language, defined by the author as the “language of distance,” prevails.

Rola czasopism naukowych w zreformowanym systemie nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce

Rola czasopism naukowych w zreformowanym systemie nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce

Author(s): Marian Gorynia,Bronisław Sitek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2021

A triple goal was set for this article: (i) identifying the functions fulfilled by scientific journals in the system of science and higher education in Poland; (ii) diagnosis and assessment of the performance of the evaluation function by the current system of journal evaluation – a critical analysis of the applicable solutions; (iii) outlining the directions of the evolution of the journal evaluation system in Poland. As far as the methodology is concerned, a critical analysis of the literature on the subject as well as a critical analysis and evaluation of applicable legal regulations played a leading role. Moreover, elements of the diagnostic approach (the description and assessment of existing solutions) and the prognostic / prospective approach (an outline of proposed changes to existing solutions) were used in the considerations. Additionally, the work uses the method of legal and dogmatic analysis of legal provisions, which allows for a critical assessment of the legislator's intentions.

Resentymentalny racjonalizm w ocenie polskich czasopism naukowych: chaos, upolitycznienie i utowarowienie

Resentymentalny racjonalizm w ocenie polskich czasopism naukowych: chaos, upolitycznienie i utowarowienie

Author(s): Mariusz Baranowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2021

The article aims to characterize the evaluation of Polish scientific journals in the fields of the humanities and social sciences, in the broader context of national science and higher education reforms. For this purpose, the notion of resentment rationalism, referring to Max Scheler’s work, was introduced to highlight the disorganization of successive attempts to rebuild the system of science rooted in evil and atavistic passions. As a consequence of the adopted research optics, what emerges is a picture of chaotic, politicized and commodified reforms, which fail to correct the position of Polish science and antagonize the community of researchers, by making it impossible to deal with important structural problems in this field.

Czasopisma nauk społecznych: refleksje w kontekście jubileuszu „Ruchu Prawniczego, Ekonomicznego i Socjologicznego”

Czasopisma nauk społecznych: refleksje w kontekście jubileuszu „Ruchu Prawniczego, Ekonomicznego i Socjologicznego”

Author(s): Jacek Wasilewski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2021

The centenary anniversary of Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny is a good time for reflection on the status of social science journals in Poland. The article compares the form and content of the twelfth volume (1932) of RPEiS with today’s academic journals. The major conclusion is that the pre-WWII journal was targeted at the broadly defined milieu of the humanistic intelligentsia, while today’s journals are addressed exclusively to a narrow group of academic specialists. Is there a chance of establishing a social science periodical in Poland that would attract a broader readership, including both scientists and practitioners in the field of the social sciences?

Теоретични основи на първата покупка в маркетинга

Теоретични основи на първата покупка в маркетинга

Author(s): Alexander Hristov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2021

Consumer decision making as an important process in marketing sphere has been discussed in detail, but so far researchers as a rule have not focused the attention on how the purchase happens for the very first time. The current text is an attempt to develop the foundations and to make a conceptual framework of the first purchase in marketing and to outline its significance for current or future consumption, especially for the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). Together with a review of the extent to which the first purchase is considered and interpreted in the academic tradition in the field (and in practice), an attempt has been made to outline it as a phenomenon, since it can have significant benefits for better understanding consumer behavior and the further improvement of marketing communications. With this regard, it can be assumed that the first purchase is the initial step of acquiring consumer experience, which determines whether the product will continue to be purchased or not. Of course, all this is largely valid for the b2c (business to consumer) markets, for the products for individual and household consumption, and for the b2b (business to business) ones the particularities may differ significantly and need to be a subject of additional research efforts.

Естетика на иконичното: рекламна комуникация чрез сливане на елементи от изящното и приложното изкуство

Author(s): Erina Krysteva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2022

The questions of our interest and high priority belong to the field of aesthetics in advertising design and communication. The answers could give a deeper understanding of the logic, function, and specifics of the meaning standing behind the visual and its ways of spreading information through icons. It can be “consumed” imperceptibly by the audience and at the same time produce a reaction. In other words, there are hidden messages beyond the two-dimensional print/digital images that could be sent more effectively adopting some methods of aesthetics. Our main goal is to discover how the entire process unfolds and how it is possible for this to happen. So, we will focus on the icon sign system and the visual rhetorical figures that are the base of some communicative strategies.

We Must Feel the Earth Beneath Our Feet with a Bare Foot

We Must Feel the Earth Beneath Our Feet with a Bare Foot

Author(s): Petra Cepková / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

The portfolio of the Slovak visual artist Petra Cepková presents a selection of her artwork, which has been realised since the early 2000s in the fields of photography, installation and painting. The presented selection of the author’s works, from her university studies to her current pedagogical activity, is aimed at illuminating the author’s way of thinking about various visual possibilities of the medium of photography, as well as its different genres. Mainly, however, it is supposed to be a reflection on topics that gradually crystallize into intertwined parallel lines of emotions and thoughts that always de facto regard human relationships. Within the key topics in the concepts of her work, we could include terms such as transience, time, family, loneliness, love, violence, etc. Photography thus allows her to see and grasp the world in a different way, anew, more whole, and to see herself and others without masks of pretence, which might bring with it sadness but also a deep human understanding for others. In the context of this main idea that extends across her whole work, behind the various topics and photographic or visual art genres, we are able to read and observe metamorphoses of her entering our secret worlds, places where we would usually rather be alone, where we heal our painful spots. In the critical situation of the state of Western culture, her themes become topical and photography here is presented as a source of empathic thinking. The author in her work brings a different and new outlook on male and female aspects of partnerships, their social impact, building mainly on the significance of a functioning family. What, however, remains essential is her attempt to explain how very important it is to amend years-ingrained stereotypes. The author has a gift to sensitively grasp a fine fabric of underlying threads in places where our common perception scratches the delusive shell of the surface. She very clearly convinces us of a thoughtful and sensible study of the relationship between an author and the portrayed individuals, leading us to a sensitive perception of the even subtlest quiver of human souls. From the view of European photography, her work can be a great contribution, as it confirms that a perfect theoretical preparation is the basis of success in every art work.

The Issue of Gallery as a Public and School Space

The Issue of Gallery as a Public and School Space

Author(s): Jozef Sedlák,Peter Lančarič,Eva Jonisová / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Reconstructing events, reviving the vital or reminding of and remembering the past are the main functions of an archive. A picture archives not only what has happened, but also, from the perspective of preserving the future, it projects historical time that struggles with timelessness. Photography – an image in archive, thus, comes to life twice, three times, four times. The photographic archive of student works at the Faculty of Mass Media Communication at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, after ten years of conceptual work with the medium of photography, stores rich archival and image material, which, in its scope of interpretation, visually maps not only the visible reality – public space, but also events, human stories, and urban or environmental space. Through authors’ projects, it breaks the visible world – surface, and dives deeper into the personal space and philosophy of a young person – a student, who uses an image to analyse their identity (regarding themselves and others) and transports their experience towards existential questions. It represents the significant progress of a young person when they are trying and are interested in expressing their opinion on social issues in any way (including the medium of photography) and to code and interpret public life according to their inner empirical knowledge.

Corona Art Challenge 2020. Strategy of Re-Interpretation/Creation in Art-Marketing in the Environment of Participative Culture of Social Media

Author(s): Lucia Spálová,Eva Kapsová / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Our study reflects on the unique digital social activity Museum Art Challenge initiated by the Getty Museum in Los Angeles in a transdisciplinary fashion (touching on aesthetics, psychology and media and communication studies), which was shared on social media during the lockdown during the years 2020 and 2021. Our theoretical vantage points refer to the strategy of re-interpretation in the context of postmodern arts (V. Kordoš, C. Sherman, Gemmy). The recreation phenomenon is also discussed with a reference to the transformation of social communication into the environment of the so-called digital participative culture and the relatively novel concept of art-marketing. Using the method of qualitative hermeneutic content analysis, we investigated the artifacts (paintings created in the limited conditions of households on the basis of recreation of iconic art pieces from the collections of world galleries) created by Instagram users, and the specific research file also consisted of students studying media and communication sciences and aesthetics at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovakia). The results of our study indicate certain common strategies of social media users when re-interpreting art pieces.

CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF DONALD TRUMP’S POLITICAL SPEECH VIA TWITTER

CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF DONALD TRUMP’S POLITICAL SPEECH VIA TWITTER

Author(s): Shaalan Najem Abdullah Shammari / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2021

Although social media was used in the 2008 presidential campaign, it became increasingly important in the 2016 election. Presidents have had to adopt and adapt to new technology in the past as well, and this has had a long-term effect on political discourse. Politicians now have new tools for communicating with the public, thanks to the internet and social media. An important goal of this paper is to examine how political speech has evolved over time, particularly in light of social media's role in political campaigning, and how Donald Trump used social media as a means of political communications. A discourse-historical approach of critical discourse analysis (CDA), has been applied in this study to carry out the analysis that would determine Trump's speech techniques. The results of this study demonstrate how President Trump's used language to influence his audience. Overall, this research paper will focus on Trump’s discourse strategies and how he employed them to create positive self-presentation and negative other-presentation.

A look at the city of Fortaleza from the perspective of NBR ISO 37120:2017

A look at the city of Fortaleza from the perspective of NBR ISO 37120:2017

Author(s): Francisco DE ASSIS SOUZA ALEXANDRE,Maria Elisa MARCIANO MARTINEZ,Marcello CARVALHO DOS REIS,Patrícia CARVALHO DOS REIS,Auzuir RIPARDO DE ALEXANDRIA / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2022

This article presents, for the city of Fortaleza, the result of the indicators of five of the seventeen sections of the standard NBR ISO 37120:2017 - “Sustainable Development of Communities - Indicators for urban services and quality of life" which establishes an international standard of key indicators and encourages communities to become more proactive, ensuring that stakeholders develop and implement a management system suited to the needs of each region. This standard, launched in 2014, defines the methodology for a set of 100 indicators, divided into 17 sections, which address social, environmental and economic aspects of cities. The five sections chosen for this work were: education, health, security, shelter and transport, since they are key areas for the development of any city. Fortaleza's results, in each of these sections, are discussed and compared with those of 58 other cities available through the World Council on City Data (WCCD) database. It is, therefore, an unprecedented study, since there is no related work in the literature for the chosen city. As a result, it can be seen that, of the 31 indicators evaluated in this work, Fortaleza was below the average of the cities certified by the WCCD in 19 indicators, above the average in 7 indicators and it was not possible to calculate another 5 indicators. It is also evident that in all the sections studied there are critical points that must be evaluated by the public power for the treatment and consequent improvement of urban services and quality of life of the population of Fortaleza.

Living in “Smart Cities and Green World”

Living in “Smart Cities and Green World”

Author(s): Miranda Harizaj,Arjela NDREU / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2022

Every day we face fast development and technology appliance in each field of industry and our everyday life, with the focus of maximization of its service to people. Therefore, a special importance has been particularly given to the construction of "smart cities". This paper will support the idea of creating and usage a network that connects all the key points of human activities as the basis of a "smart" city, focusing on renewable energy, specifically solar one, to carry out these activities that a person performs throughout a full day. We are based on two features, "smart" and "green", which will include the electricity supply of the apartment and coverage of any of its indoor activities, street lighting, charging of electric cars and education on reducing pollution levels on nature.First of all, we will focus on presenting all the elements of this network, whose basis are photovoltaic modules, then we will introduce the creation of photovoltaic plants based on respective standards for their resistance to wind, with materials that do not pierce existing buildings and do not pollute the environment. Last but not least, based on the evaluation of collected results we recommend the effective ways of using photovoltaic systems in open spaces. We can mention lots of benefits by living in smart cities and green world, but most important would be the fact that we are going eco-friendly for the environment and creating economic development and jobs in ICT technology and other engineering fields. So, it’s obvious as it implicates and affects the whole society and it is a productive and green way to smart the living in a safe and green world.

Изкуството и крахът в обществените отношения днес

Author(s): Nikifor Avramov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2022

The text presents the idea that the establishing of art’s meaning in a society is necessarily done through an awareness of the essence of art and, therefore, outside of the relativist perspective of time. The current situation of crisis in social relations presents a peculiar symbolic situation, which should be understood as a suggestion for a deeper questioning regarding the state of art in relation to its ontological origins.
