A dekonstrukcije: la différance, pisanje, Derida i „mi”

Author(s): Novica Milić / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

La différance – the difference with an “a” – makes not only one of the key terms of Derrida’s philosophy, but is a keystone of his strategy of deconstruction of the Western metaphysics. What kind of keystone is it, if, according to its inventor, la différance is “neither a concept, nor a word”? In analysing yhis question we try to show Derrida’s contribution both to the institution of philosophy and that of literature, as well as the strange logic of the “and” which links and separates – identifies and differentiates – these two fields of thinking and language.

Žak Derida sa Žakom Lakanom

Author(s): Radoman Kordić / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

The modality “with” (deconstruction with the theory of psychoanalysis) assumes two forms of complex relations. The first one is expressed through the ability of the subject of that modality, of Lacan or Derrida, to say “we”, or in other words in the ability to overcome differences in the point, essentially common to them. The other form of relation of the modality “with” consists of visible and invisible ties between theories of deconstruction and psychoanalysis, the dimension of the other, otherness in theory, and the temptation emanating from the fact that only one subject of the modality “with” can say “we”. In this case it is Derrida who is saying it, but in his own way. “In his own way”, which is also immanent to Lacan, functions as a point in which the difference is overcome, it becomes “in our own way” and confirms the modality “with”.

Derridin potpis na performativu savremenog performansa

Author(s): Ana Vujanović / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

In the paper I consider Derrida’s influence(s) on contemporary performing arts theory and practice. More specific, the topical subject of the paper are influences and significance of Derrida’s re-reading of theory of performative (as it is put within analytic philosophy, and philosophy of ordinary language in particular – e.g. in Austin, Strowson, and Searl’s work) for/in performing arts theory and practice from 1970s till nowadays. The point of departure for the process I consider is Derrida’s text Signature, event, context (1971), where he makes a brilliant profound deconstruction of the very conceptual system that enables, as it is presupposed, unique continual communicational context, and happy realization of a performative utterance in the frame of it. Thence he achieves replacement of the elements in the binary pair ‘literal – parasitic’ performative, deconstructing common sense propositions of the ‘seriousness’ of communication in ‘ordinary life’ in difference to ‘stage’ situation. His re-reading enters the field of performing arts, where becomes integrated in its basic concepts and practices, such as concept of performance itself. Thanks to Derrida, new paradigms of performance’s performatives in its cultural and social context replace former naive intentions of direct impacts, and their already-yet failures. Nowadays, one of the dominant thesis of performance’s performative within performing arts studies is that performance is relative autonomous but necessairly inner social practice, whose intervention is first of all illocutory act of artistic discourse in the network of social discourses – as one of them, and whose politics is therefore nothing than its work with the discourse with all its ideological implications itself.

Derida posle Deride

Author(s): Milorad Belančić / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Voljeti smrt kao sestru, umirati skupa: autobiografija i žalovanje

Author(s): Zoran Janković / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Modernizam i strukturalizam

Author(s): Ivan Kovačević / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Modernisation of Serbian ethnology/anthropology in the second quarter of the twentieth century was marked by structuralism. More precisely, structural analysis that became a must of the analytical interpretation was based on the work of Claude Levi-Strauss, but also on those of the predecessors of structural analysis, like Van Gennep and Propp; British followers of structuralism like E. Leach and M. Douglas, as well as on the Russian semiotic school and Barth's semiology. Ta-king aside predecessors of structural analysis, main sources of Serbian structural-semiotic revolution came from Levi-Strauss structural anthropology. When in the 1970s Serbian readers faced anthropological books coming from different intellectual backgrounds and re-presenting major theoretical trends in anthropology, Serbian ethnology, firmly based on its hundred years old romantic roots, gave equally opportunities to all theoretical approaches that fought for the intellectual domination in the discipline. This paper tries to answer the question why structural analysis played a crucial part in the modernisation of Serbian ethnology/anthropology, while the ideas coming from functionalism, culture and personality school, or neoevolutionism did not have the same revolutionary and deep impact.

Strukturalizam u arheologiji

Author(s): Aleksandar Palavestra / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Although, back in the 1970s, Edmund Leach threatened archaeology that he will 'poison' it with structuralism, his structuralist work did not have that far reaching impact on the changes of archaeological interpretative paradigms. The reason for that is ` on the one hand, structuralists' lack of in-terest in diachronic interpretation, and on the other, the concept of the universal structures of mind for which upco-ming poststructuralism did not have much interest. To be fair, there are some rather interesting structuralist interpretations in archaeology (even in the Serbian one) mostly based on the application of binary oppositions. However, in the broader context, structuralism, work of Levi-Strauss, and de Saussure linguistics in particular, enabled archaeolo-gists to understand material culture in a semiotic field - as a study of signs and contexts of meanings. In other words, objects in archaeology, under the influence of structuralism, have been seen as organised in the wider systems of signs (organised in binary oppositions, but not necessarily) with particular meanings. One of the problems of this semiotic, structural approach in archaeology is that it automatically equates material culture and language, which is highly pro-blematic, since meanings in material culture are rarely arbitrary in the way that it is the case in a linguistic relation between signifier and signified. Poststructuralism, theory of practices and poststructuralist critique of scientific positivism had much higher impact to archaeology, especially postprocessual one.

Povodom Levi-Strosovog koncepta "motiva zaborava"

Author(s): Dragana Antonijević / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

This paper starts with Levi-Strauss's semantic concept that consists of oblivion, misunderstanding, indiscretion and nostalgia. Through his analysis of North American and Greek myths, Levi-Strauss concluded that 'semantic filed of oblivion' has an important meaning especially in the construction of particular rules and rituals; or, in other words, it has an important part in the introduction of culture to the nature of cognitive and social processes. After the introduction of concept Structure of disturbed communication and some corrections to the Levi-Strauss's concept, I start with the proposition that the period of transition represents unstable and 'slippery' time in which society negotiates different meanings. That is the time when different styles of thoughts, represented by different and powerful groups that have an impact on current social, political and ideological processes, compete with each other fighting for supremacy. Their field of communication can be seen as a field of 'disturbed communication', which in the final instance has a normative function: to reinforce and regulate certain attitudes, ideas and knowledge. This is achieved through the narratives which symbolise a community of newly established order in the moment of its supposed sociohistorical stabilisation. Finally, combining two different theoretical models ` Levi-Strauss's one described above with Greimas's ideas about structures of modes of veridiction, this paper predicts chances of particular paradigmatic forms of thought in transitory Serbia to became dominant modes of thought, despite of their current low visibility in the public sphere. In mythical terms, it seems though that their domineering efforts are predetermined to success or fail, since they position them-selves according to the laws immanent to these structures themselves, which on their part a priori position these structures as powerful or powerless, influential or non-influential communities of thought.

Author(s): Liudprand Liudprand of Cremona / Language(s): Bulgarian

This modern translation of all the surviving literary compositions ascribed to Liudprand, the bishop of Cremona from 962 to 972, offers unrivaled insight into society and culture in western Europe during the "iron century". Since Liudprand enjoyed the favor of the Saxon Roman emperor Otto the Great, and traveled to Constantinople more than once on official business, his narratives also reveal European attitudes toward the Byzantine Empire and the culture of its refined capital city. No other tenth-century writer had such privileged access to the high spheres of power, or such acerbic wit and willingness to articulate critiques of the doings of powerful people. Liudprand's historical texts (the Antapodosis on European events in the first half of the 900s, and his Historia Ottonison the rise to power of Otto the Great) provide a unique view of the recent past against a genuinely European backdrop, unusual in a time of localized cultural horizons. Liudprand's famous satirical description of his misadventures as Ottonian legate at the Byzantine court in 968 is a vital source of information on Byzantine ritual and diplomatic process, as well as a classic of medieval intercultural encounter. Readers interested in medieval European culture, the history of diplomacy, Italian and German medieval history, and the history of Byzantium will find this collection of translated texts rewarding. A full introduction and extensive notes help readers to place Liudprand's writings in context.

Evropski diskurs rata

Author(s): Author Not Specified / Language(s): English,Croatian,Serbian

Author(s): Jean Baudrillard / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

The Absent Presence of Abandoned Industrial Spaces in Belgrade: A Semiotic Study through Photographic Imagery

Author(s): Evinç Doğan / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

Photographic imagery serves as a tool to tackle the temporality and materiality of ruins that could be read through the layers of symbolic meaning in the urban landscape. The photographic representation of the material realm may suggest a sense of memory for the possible pasts, whilst provoking imaginary possible futures. A photograph as a trace, on the other hand, suggests a fragment of memory addressing both presence and absence.

200 godina Friedricha Engelsa

Author(s): / Language(s): Croatian,Serbian

This anthology book is published on the occasion of the bicentennial of the birth of Friedrich Engels, an exceptional thinker and theorist of the revolution. Editors Maroje Višić and Miroslav Artić gathered renowned domestic and international scientists who tried to reevaluate Engels' works and his scientific contribution. The idea behind the book is to point out the everlasting value and significance of Engels’ revolutionary philosophy. Contributing authors offered analytical reading of Engels' ideas, addressing pressing issues in economics, politics, religion, feminism, ideology and in other segments of contemporary society. The papers in an anthology are organized under the chapters: The Reception of Engel’s Philosophy, Actuality of Engels Today with subchapters on working-class and precariat, peasantry as the subject of change, early Christianity as an inspiration; and the last chapter is Revalorization of Family and State. The first chapter tackles the questions if Engels was more than an interpreter of Marx or simply the first Marxist who contributed to the banalization of Marx. It then investigates reception of Engels’ philosophy in ex-Yugoslavia specifically and in philosophical theory in general. The second chapter demonstrates actuality and relevance of Engels today by discussing the topics of working-class and precariat, by making comparison between early industrial society and contemporary society and by tracking development of socialism from utopia to a science. Chapter also deals on the peasantry whose role as a subject of change is thoroughly problematized. Special part of the chapter is dedicated to the influence of the practice of early Christianity on the formation of Engels’ revolutionary idea and to what extent original Christian community served affected the development of Engels’ thought. Final chapter brings papers that, under new circumstances, re-examine the understanding of the state-family relation and their dynamic. This comprehensive anthology attempted to revalorize and appraise Engels’ own contribution to science and philosophy 200 years after his birth. For this it was necessary to “divorce” Engels from Marx so that the fallacy of statement that Engels was second violin to Marx becomes striking.Chapter one tackle the question of whetherEngels was more than an interpreter of Marx or simply the first Marxist to contribute to the banalization of Marx.= Engels' reception is then examined both in the former Yugoslavia and in philosophical theory in general.Special part of the chapter is dedicated to influence of the practice of early Christianity on the formation of Engels’ revolutionary idea. That is, to what extent the examples of the original Christian communities influenced the development of Engels' thought
