The paper poses the question of teachers’ qualification in the workplace. A research has been carried out that establishes a set of motives facilitating the acceptance of new learning and teaching practices at school directed at achieving high cognitive and affective goals. A set of motives which distance teachers from actual implementation of innovative solutions in the learning process has been identified. The research methodological tool is Educational Drama which the teachers up to the beginning of the project have viewed as spectators only. Its inclusion as an actual learning and teaching tool in which they are both performers and experts is tested by means of focus groups and focus interviews. Conclusions are drawn as to the realistic perspectives of continuing teachers’ qualification in the workplace. This type of qualification is referred to as important and successful for achieving high educational goals and outcomes adapted to individual students and teachers.

The success of educational management is correlated to school’s autonomy. It is explicated as a strategy of change and modernization of education, related to decentralization, municipalization and privatization in educational structures; it presupposes freedom, self-governing in the educational organization; it requires also the observance of certain balance between society’s need and school’s interests; it is associated to the participative governing in the school by teachers and parents.The theories of school education’s governing are associated with the main theories of governing and management, which also reflects on the theory of education’s governing itself.The global aspects of education inevitably presuppose the needs of major changes in educational systems. In this context the school autonomy is researched. It has no traditions either in centralization, or in the federal countries (with just few exceptions), as well as this tendency and features are already thoroughly researched in the European Union.

The model of leadership styles and their relationship to the level of development of employees is mandatory knowledge in modern school and the school of the future for every manager who aspires to be an effective leader.Advanced school directors are guided by the principle of optimal management, which is democratic, and also “participatory”. They are involving employees in the process of decision-making, encourage them to develop their potential and take more responsibility. Directors are now facing “inward” to work with subordinates and they manage their schools according to the principles of situational leadership.The article focuses on the four levels of development of teachers and four leadership styles (directive, mentoring, supporting and delegating) of the principals. It highlights that there is a correlation that determines the most appropriate style of the director – for each level of development of the teaching staff. A good leader is dialogical and sincerely loves to work with people. He believes in his mission that he should develop the potential of people and school organization.
