Autor przywołał z jednej strony obraz orkiestry w obozie koncentracyjnym Auschwitz (złożonej z więźniów i grającej marszową muzykę) „wzbudzającą” zapał do pracy, a z drugiej o sile patriotycznej płynącej z uprawiania muzyki chóralnej w Estonii.

Problem ten Brusniak próbuje rozwiązać poprzez pryzmat świadomości czterech obszarów poznawczych i wynikających stąd działań. Stanowią one: a) uwypuklenie psychologiczno-emocjonalnej sfery narodu i ochrona przed manipulacją ideologiczną, b) poznanie historycznej tożsamości Europy w poszczególnych drogach rozwoju każdego narodu, c) wspólne obchodzenie ponadnarodowych świąt w krajach europejskich, d) propagowanie wspólnej tożsamości poprzez naukę hymnów narodowych.

Żydowska, czterojęzyczna pieśń Dem sejdns nign opisuje np. historię różnorodnych migracji poprzez kilka generacji i ujmuje tematycznie konieczność międzypokoleniowego przekazywania muzycznego dziedzictwa.

The text undertakes an analysis of representation of Nowa Huta in contemporary ction, in attempt to discover whether a new ways of description have been invented (in the context of strong and in uential myths dating back do 1950’s). It focuses on three texts: Hanna Sokołowska’s thriller Kosa, Jewgienij T. Olejniczak’s fantasy novella Tajemna historia Nowej Huty and Adam Miklasz’s Ostatni mecz, a story of Nowa Huta football team and its fans. A couple of common problems in the discussed texts are observed and examined, such as: rep- resentation of feminity (attribution of creative force to women), romantic paradigm, relation between private and public and rewriting of Nowa Huta genesis. What seems to be a major problem is crisis of community, distrust of common values and shift towards indi- vidualism (in Miklasz’s book the case is more complicated).

This paper analyses the determinants of knowledge in the European Union of the 27, through estimates of transcendental logarithmic production functions (translog) in different scenarios. For this, a data panel for the period 2003-2010 has been elaborated, selecting the production stochastic frontier as the most reliable model to estimate technical efficiency for European innovation. The empirical result is that technological capital, human capital and relational capital have a positive and significant influence on the generation of knowledge. Also, from the observation of results we can assure that the size (in terms of population) of a country within the EU-27 does not positively influence the technical efficiency of knowledge production. This is an empirical study about the relationship between the determinants of knowledge and the technical efficiency of the generation of knowledge, and such a study does not exist in literature for the EU-27 in the period analysed.

What is explored in this article are the issues of social competences of learners in care-educational institutions. The studies are presented of the level of social competences of the charges in child care homes in the intellectual norm and the charges with mild intellectual disability. The theoretical-cognitive research goal was recognizing and investigating the determinants of social competences in care-educational institutions. Moreover, the presented diagnosis of the level of the charges’ social competences and their determinants may contribute to prevention and levelling of social marginalization and might enhance higher standards in the functioning of child care homes. The studies shown in the article indicate that the lack of social competences of children and youth from care-educational institutions may result in many problems, also social ones – such as e.g. learned helplessness.

Lifelong education of disabled adults is the only guarantor of surviving for this specific group in the public life and open work market. What becomes the major aim of lifelong learning is supporting the processes of transition (of societies and economies of EU member states) from the post-industrial era to the era of digital economy and information society. The essence of continuous education is reflected in the best way in the standpoint that it should be considered in the context of lifelong learning (LLL). On the methodological level, the idea of LLL assumes absolute equality of all individuals (regardless the sex, degree of disability, education, age, social class, etc.). The article is an interdisciplinary attempt at answering the question concerning the significance of continuous education for increasing the quality of life and professional qualifications of disabled adults.

To understand Chinese tradition, it is necessary to clarify the creative process of change as a category of interaction between complementary opposites. In the absence of Western dualistic concept, China has developed a correlative way of thinking about the world. This conception plays an important role in the consideration of the legal culture of China. Unfortunately, often the basis for the analysis of Chinese tradition, culture, and politics lacks this correlative Chinese thinking. Correlative way of thinking based on continuity through change formed not only Chinese philosophy, but also is still forming Chinese reality.

Nowadays more and more attention is devoted to the spatial development of the location of sports facilities within cities. The main aim of our paper is to observe the most important spatial characteristics of their development in Hungarian cities of county rank. In these cities three main periods of development of sports facilities can be observed. Larger sports facilities were constructed especially on the edge of cities or in the suburbs, while in the case of smaller facilities a bigger role was played by locations within the city boundaries. As regards the factors influencing the location of sports facilities, the most important role was played by the location of available land areas, besides accessibility and from the mid-1960s links to existing facilities can be mentioned as well.

In 1891 Kuzman Shapkarev published three stories and a song from the town of Samokov that was dedicated to the destiny of the last Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Shishman – called by him King Ivan Shishman the Last. In the song recorded in Samokov region, appear both epinom King Ivan Shishman the Last and epinom Pasha Shishmanina, who is an antagonist of the king. It can be assumed that these two epinoms in the legends and songs recorded in Samokov region are a direct echo of the battles of King Ivan Shishman with the Ottomans in the late fourteenth century in Samokov Valley. Who is behind the vague epinom Pasha Shishmanina? Perhaps this is the son of King Ivan Shishman - Alexander, who after his father’s death became a governor of the province of Samsun in Asia Minor, and then in 1413 became a governor of Smyrna. In 1418 he died in a battle.

In Bulgarian traditional culture the lexeme of „bead“ serves as a collective concept for the presentation of a semantic order of meanings, related with notions of adornments and decorations. In folklore ritual texts the use of beads alternates with that of „pearl, merdjan, altin, beslic“ in their quality as means of decoration. In Christmas carols that present the cosmic order and its „earthly image“ over a „maid’s shirt“ the topography of use alternates „beads“ with „silver and gold“. The described „alternation“ of concepts equalizes semantically the mentioned lexemes and turns the beads into one of the images of „objects“ – mediators between this and the Outer World. Another evidence for the rationalization of beads as a ritual requisite is their use predominantly in texts that point at moments of transition in calendar or social plan. Except for texts for Christmas and St. Lazarus’s Day, the use of beads is fixed in songs with a pre-marriage semantics. In support for the thesis we can also indicate the folklore belief for the „blue bead“ as a main apotrope – another proof for the mediator’s function of beads in the traditional folklore thought.
