We have examined eight types of optical polymer plates including polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) which is preferred material for ultrasonic purposes. Their longitudinal ultrasonic velocity and attenuation coefficient have been determined by means of pulse-echo technique. Comparison of acoustic properties of the investigated polymers and PMMA sample at 15MHz frequency. Obtained values of the ultrasonic attenuation coefficient and acoustic path length could be used to qualify homogeneity and isotropy of the polymer materials. Eddy current testing is based on the physics phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. The principle of the eddy current technique is based on the interaction between a magnetic field source and the test material. This interaction induces eddy currents in the test piece. The thickness of nonmetallic coatings on metals can be determined simply from the effect of liftoff on impedance. This method has used for measuring thickness and research a structure of thin walled non-conductive polymers.

On the science or the chemistry education, it is one from the most important problems for both the science teachers and the students to design the linkage between ones information and other information as well. The aim of this study is hypothetically to model the linkage between the qualitative analysis and the quantitative analysis with the chemical calculations. For this aim, it is preferred the precipitation reactions of first group cations (Ag1+, Pb2+,Hg22+ ) with HCl solution that is the group reagent in the qualitative analysis of inorganic samples in this study. On these precipitation reactions, it is offered the three sub model for teaching how to calculate the quantity of precipitate if the quantities of one or two reactants are given for the quantitative analysis. These sub models are consecutively called First Model, Second Model and Third Model. First Model: The aim of First Model is to teach how to calculate the mass of precipitate when the molarity and the volume of the solution of only one reactant is given in the problems. Second Model: The aim of Second Model is to teach how to calculate the mass of precipitate if two reactants react completely when the molarities and the volumes of the solution of them are given in the problems. Third Model: The aim of Third Model is to teach how to calculate the mass of precipitate if one of two reactants reacts completely and other remains unreacted when the molarities and the volumes of their solutions are given in the problems. The solutions of problems have been done by two different methods that are known as by the using formula and by the conversion factor. It can be said that the models are hypothetically suitable to investigate the relations between the qualitative analysis and the quantitative analysis with the chemical calculation in this context the reactions of first group cations with HCl that is the group reagent of them. The precipitation reactions are directly the linkage with gravimetric analysis and Mohr, Fajans and Volhard methods in this context of volumetric analysis as well. Keywords: analytical chemistry education, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, quantitative precipitation, stoichiometry, chemical calculation, limiting reagent

The 20th century witnessed an era in which a quick transition occurred from the application of draft to the application of the all-volunteer force in the armed forces throughout the world. This trend still continues today. The transition in armies from draft to the all-volunteer force also has caused the institutional military understanding to evolve into an occupational military understanding. In this regard, the “Institutional-Occupational Model,” in which Charles C. Moskos claims that the armed forces has been in a gradual transition from an institutional model to an occupational model, is such as to shed light on the rapid changes occurring in the armed forces. In this respect, this study addresses the Institutional-Occupational Model, which might also shed light on the recent changes in the role orientations of the Armed Forces of many countries, examines the model’s current applications and criticisms towards it, and provides an overall evaluation of the model.

The aim of the article is to deepen the theoretical and methodological concepts regarding the essence of political flash mob (political mob) as a spectacular and game-like variety of political actionism, to define the modern types of political mobs. The research methodology is based on: the model of society of spectacle (G. Debord); the simulation model (J. Baudrillard); the individualized society model (Z. Bauman); the model of society of interactive spectacle (S. Best, D. Kellner) etc. The methodology synthesized the theoretical and methodological concepts of symbolic interactionism, postmodernism and post-structuralism. The scientific novelty lies in the author’s original analysis of political mobs as a spectacular and game-like variety of political actionism technology, which consists of one-time or wave-like conduction of short-term dramatized mass actions according to a pre-agreed scenario. Conclusions. The analysis showed that political mob is a spectacular network interaction, performed on the basis of horizontal social communications. The author defined the following features of political mob: non-institutional character; organization through online resources; spectacularity, pronounced game context; chronometricty etc. There are following varieties of modern political mobs: “silent” flash mobs, online flash mobs (i-mob); wave-like relay and others. It is noted that the vast majority of political flash mobs are peaceful in their nature. It is emphasized that in some countries flash mobs are considered equal to protest actions, such as rallies and pickets, therefore their spontaneous self-organization is forbidden.

The purpose of the article is to publish results of the complex study of the monument. The methodology of the research is to use the principles of historicism and comparative analysis. Specifics of material structure of the icon are identified with technical and technological studies, that included optic studies of the surface of the painting in the visible direct and side light source, in the infrared (IR-) and ultraviolet (UV-) radiation range, layered visual microscopic study of the surface of the paint layer, sampling of soil and paint layer; determination of soil composition and pigments of the paint layer. Scientific novelty is to clarify the icon’s dating, to detect its iconographic, stylistic and technical and technological features. Conclusions. Due to results of complex (stylistic, iconographic and technical and technological) studies, the icon “The Virgin of Odigitria” (Trinity Saint Elijah) (KPL-ZH-186, NKPHCR) was dated to the first third of XVIII century and connect its painting with the circle of Chernihiv’s masters who worked at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra then.

The primary objective of this article is to pay attention to the dominant nature of the paradigm of heteronormativity which makes it impossible for the internally diversified population of the United States to develop and manifest sexual identities that are not consistent with the images of a man and a woman established already in the colonial period. In spite of the development of societies based on the principles of democracy and broadly understood tolerance, there are still some individuals who are socially and culturally marginalized in the sanctioned pubic order, and the very idea of heteronormativity invariably determines desirable patterns of conduct. The necessity to revise the time-honored standards regulating the sexual and romantic lives of both individuals and groups is highlighted by the analysis of stereotypes concerning the members of the Hispanic minority in the United States of America. It is shown that the practices employed in everyday life which are repeated in literature, movies and mass media contribute to perpetuating the existent divisions leading to further conflicts. The problem of relations occurring between Eurocentric and religious values, on the one hand, and the plurality of forms of masculinity and femininity, on the other, is juxtaposed here with one more issue, i.e. racial relations, which have been repeatedly used to justify acts of discrimination and maintain the policy of hegemony. What is more, the article indicates that the change of the existing policy can be effected by the change of factors accompanying the process of upbringing which could function as the corrective measures leading to the acknowledgement of potential “otherness” of fellow citizens.

Two new culinary magazines, masooo! (meeeat!) and Apetit veggie!, have been established in the Czech Republic recently, both published by Burda Praha, the Czech division of global media house Burda International. Firstly, masooo! targeted to male audience, has appeared in 2015 as a special edition of men’s lifestyle magazine Maxim, followed in 2016 by Apetit veggie!, a special edition of Apetit, the leading Czech lifestyle culinary magazine published since 2004. This paper presents the qualitative analysis of selected issues of the new titles. The author examines the differences in content and form of both periodicals, relating it to the current trends in the Czech print media market (notably fragmentation and segmentation) and several significant cultural trends (transformation of diverse diets into lifestyles, shifts in masculinity, etc.). Comparing the semiotic and discursive aspects of the magazines, the author attempts to determine whether some gendering, typical of the meat-oriented masooo!, could be identified in its vegan/vegetarian counterpart. However, the prospective feminine shaping of Apetit veggie! seems to be rather implicit. Moreover, some differences in the discursive framing of food have been identified, e.g. the ironic references to veganism in masooo! and the need for self-defence of a plant-based diet in Apetit veggie!

In the article, the national elections in Slovakia, that took place March 5th 2016, are being analyzed. The author concentrates first of all on basic linguistic units that are used to provide evaluation of the leaders of eight major political parties. They were the parties that succeeded in getting into the Parliament of the Slovak Republic. Thus eight political leaders create a certain linguistic picture of Slovak politics of our time. We have used the main Slovak press representatives the daily newspapers Pravda and Sme a weekly magazine .týždeň and several of the major TV stations as the source of our research.

Described is the creativity of women in visual arts following their debut about the year 2000. Women artists representing this Polish feminist art movement are drawing inspiration from their everyday life experienced in their social roles traditionally attributed to women as housewives, wives and mothers. Revolting in face of consequent impediments to building their career, berating hints by some as to maintaining the traditional role of women in society and taking issue with critics derogating the feminist art movement, the artists set out to portray aspects of their vocational life and consequences of being a woman in an artistically paradoxical way. Viewers long used to extended metaphors and hidden symbols are invited by the artists to intuit women’s everyday life experiences, challenge gender stereotypes and reflect on values.

Digital storytelling is an engaging learning environment that gained worldwide popularity over the last years. It offers a rich cross-curricular learning environment within which children design, create and present their own stories and develop many skills including literacy, presentation and communication skills as well as inquiry-based learning and digital skills. In this paper we present a new way of digital storytelling, a form of dramatized storytelling inspired by the rich tradition of Shadow Theater. This form of storytelling showcases an engaging way of renovating cultural heritage with the use of digital technologies. It combines a number of digital tools for the production of the digital stories covering all five phases of film making: scenario development, preproduction, production, post-production and distribution. eShadow can be used (a) to create digital shad-ow puppets, and (b) to set up, perform and record the scenes of the digital story (production phase). This way, digital story creation is wrapped around engaging learning scenarios, playful improvisations and creative learning. eShadow has been extensively used to support cross-curricular learning mainly in Greek schools. It is extended to support marionette-like interactions to promote its use in countries with relevant storytelling cultures.

In this paper we describe how Unity and Shield UI frameworks are used for building the three-dimensional object rendering section of an online knowledge management system for human anatomy. 3D models of humans are organized in multiple levels of hierarchy and each component contains different types of related information. To allow seamless navigation, like searching for and selecting a specific organ, and viewing its medical description in several languages, developers would need to rely on an optimized and stable framework that can target web browsers as well as other platform builds. The specific requirements of this project called for trying the Unity package for building our 3D rendering scene and exporting it to the WebGL platform to make it available to its viewers on all modern web browsers. To build the rich web user interface and bring high-level user experience to the viewers, the Shield UI framework is integrated on top of the Unity webgl build.
