The main objective of this study is to analyze the situation of school abandonment in Romania, by classes, residence and gender. Also, the individual, school, social and economic factors that influence the pupil to leave school are followed. School abandonment is more a process and less an event in itself. Social inclusion and equal opportunities are the main solutions to tackling this social problem. Early school abandonment is both an individual problem and of the society as a whole, which is why social prevention and target policies need to be carefully considered. Also, an increased attention is paid to schools of arts and crafts, which have a major influence on the prevention and preventing school dropout.

This article focuses on the quality assurance reforms that higher education in Albania has undertaken during the timeframe 2014-2019 in regard to implementing the standards and guidelines of the European Higher Education Area. Albania is a candidate country and it has been making a continuous effort to become a member of the EU; thus, Europeanization is been used as a theoretical framework to analyse policy changes. The research aims to analyse what Europeanization approach the domestic reforms have pursued, based on the mechanisms, veto points and the outcomes of the Europeanization process. Moreover, through empirical findings on the Albanian quality assurance system, it attempts to define the extent to which these reforms comply with European standards and guidelines (ESG). Europeanization of the educational policies is guided by causal mechanisms with non-binding stimuli; thus, socialization, much more in the terms of instrumental learning, is defined as the main mechanism of the Europeanization approach of Albanian quality assurance. The policy convergence is mostly happening as an internalization of the rules regarding changing the policy means, not the policy ends, which produces only a formal absorption of ESG and not a substantial transformation of the system.

Anthropologically speaking, culture, by and large, marks the opposition culture vs.nature giving specificity to the human being way of existence. Cultural facts – knowledge, techniques, institutions, ways of behaviour, visions upon universe – sign of the culture’s unity have an “acquired” character, they are created by the human kind and independent from the biological laws, they are not known outside the human being. They represent a new environment, different from the natural one. This new environment (equally material and spiritual) interposes between man and nature and among people within a collectivity; it moulds the relationship of the human being with the self and it is the result of the synchronicity of the relationship of the human being with the society.

The current reproductive policy in Bulgaria influences the future national socio-economic developments. It is necessary to differentiate the demographic policies towards the particular population groups in order to increase the policy impact outcomes. Aim: To identify existence or absence of significant differences in the reproduction models among the populations in the three main ethno-cultural categories (ECC) in the country – Bulgarian, Turkish, Roma – within the time period 2001-2009. Target population: Children born in the period 2001-2009 by age (under 15-19; 20-34; 35-49) and by ECC of the mother. The use of ethno-cultural category instead of ethnic group is justified. Source of information: published and unpublished data of NSI and data from research projects related to demographic development of Bulgaria. Results: The following birth dy-namics in the age group under 15-19 and between 35-49 by ethno-cultural category are established. In the Bul-garian ECC there is significant increase of late births - from 4,97% to 11,47%; Roma EEC permanently keeps high related share of early births – 38%; for the Turkish EEC – early births decrease from 26,9% to 20%. The risks of early and late births for the mother and child are discussed. Significant differences show the established sustainable and ECC-specific models. Conclusion: the application of longitudinal methodological approach for reproduction models changes of every EEC can contribute for the development of differentiated demographic policy.

The starting point of the proposed considerations is Mikhail Bakhtin’s notion of genre, according to which genre of an utterance presupposes a particular kind of existence in reality and a special relationship with the recipient. Nabokov’swork A LetterThat Never Reached Russia is a model short story in this respect. Its protago-nist – the author of the eponymous Letter, topicalizes the writer’s situation in exile and takes under consideration both being as well as existential (bytijnyj) aspect of emigration. It is achieved using a twofold strategy. First of all, the hero-writer uses a trick specific to Nabokov himself: he poeticizes Berlin’s space and, with the power of imagination, transforms being (everyday existence), the manner of inhabiting the Earth (Heidegger), emphasizing the role of the spiritual aspect of human existence as a source of happiness. Secondly, choosing the epistolary genre – a form of intimate expression – is also a kind of strategy that allows familiarizing an alien reality and actualizing the “trace” of the past in a solitary everyday life in exile.
