Crimes against marriage and family are a particular group of social relationships that the law has defended properly in view of the high public significance and value they enjoy. At the moment they are regulated in Chapter VI, Section I, of the specific part of the Penal Code the Republic of Bulgaria. The subject matter of this Statement will, however, be the legislative provisions concerning these criminalized acts in retrospect. The purpose of the study is to show by historical method and through the comparatively legal method the development of these criminal groups during the periods of various criminal laws in Bulgaria. This will also provide a basis for reflection on possible de lege ferenda proposals. This report from a structural point of view will be divided into three distinct points, marking each of the penal laws in the Republic of Bulgaria, which were in force before 1968.

The article analyzes the effects and distinctive aspects of hate crimes and their possible conceptualization as a boundary action. The dual boundary aspect of hate crimes – in terms of the boundaries within social hierarchies and the boundaries of societal norms – determines their distinguishing characteristics as well as their specificity as an intersection point in the dynamic interaction between structure and action. Determined by social rules and the hierarchies of social stratification, hate crime in turn transforms them: it transforms the rules by blurring the borders of norm, and the hierarchies, by solidifying the borders between groups and strata.

Many studies show that regardless of local characteristic in terms of globalization criminal networks are transnational, and local and regional crime are under control of organized crime. An analytical method of transition from age-specific fertility coefficients to age-specific childbirth probabilities is submitted by analogy with the method of transition from age-specific mortality coefficients to age-specific probabilities of dying described by Chiang and Preston. The method is compared with a similar one using survival probabilities from a life table fairly close to the period of fertility observation. A demonstration of childbirth probabilities derived by both methods is made on data for the years 2000-2001.

Pig has always been a (ritual) object of the transition process. The folklore tradition and the widespread concerns about pig’s destiny after the EU accession reshaped it (also) into a (political) object of the transition process. A case study merging the folklore and post-socialist episodes of the cultural history of pig will be able to advance the analysis of the institutional changes and structurations, experienced by a post-socialist society. Drawing on the work of Marry Douglas, the author will develop a framework for institutional analysis, and will put that framework into operation by examining the „transition pig“ from an institutional point of view. That will enable him to detect certain structural faults in the establishment and operation of the Romanian institutions, thus encouraging an „anthropology of transparency“ capable of confronting such problems in a systematic and coherent way.
